Magazine feature article analysis

The layout of my feature article was inspired by the Q mag feature article of the Kings of Leon. I though that having two images of the artist doing two different things would be good and not make it boring to look at. My feature article is a little bit unique in the sense that one image takes up half the page and then the other image is smaller and doesn't take up hardly any of the page.
I used a drop cap to start off the feature article but I found it difficult to make it fit in perfectly with the text. I decided to put the name of the artist in a really large font size so that it would stand out when the reader turns over the page and it will be the first thing they see.
The parts that I decided to use for the pull quotes were chosen because I thought they were important, I also thought if the reader was to just read the pull quotes first before the article then it would entice them to read the whole thing. I thought placing the pull quotes where I did, which was in the middle of the two pages, was important for the structure and how the feature article looked. Also changing the colour of the pull quotes to the rest of the text made the page more exciting and made the quotes stand out more I decided to use two columns on a page instead of three because otherwise the columns looked to small and it didn't look as neat or as professional.
I chose to put the page number in red because it went with the house style, also I decided to put the colour of the pull quotes in a dark blue which went with what I said about my house style.
I wanted to keep it reasonably simple because I didn't want anything to massively take away attention from the text. I decided I would write about what 'Oscar Walton' has done so far in his career and what he has got planned for the near future, I thought these were the type of things people would want to know about an up and coming artist. As I decided the country genre appealed to the older readers (25 upwards) I used a younger artist so that it may attract younger audiences, but to compensate for that I made my writing formal throughout the article so that when an older reader was reading it it was more to there standard.
